IMHO: Best Croissant in Ridgewood, New Jersey
Two Jersey mamas taste tested 5 of your favorites croissants to rank the best of the best!
Back today with
, anti-diet dietitian, body image coach, local mama + my dear friend, of The Hoka Moka to share our next installment of IMHO, where we grab 5 of (insert food here) and try them side-by-side so we know where to grab the best local favorite. With SO many bakeries in town, we wanted to know which ultimately delivers on the croissant front! We put our ears to the ground to find the 5 best in town- we tried plain croissants from the top 5 places in our IG poll which were - Sook, Tatte Bakery, Pierre Michel, Sweet Kitchen and Paris Baguette. Here were the results:
Sook: everything you want from a croissant; classic layers, crisp edges, butter magic. Small size, melts in your mouth deliciousness. The most like a croissant from France. AND your favorite when we polled local followers!
Paris Baguette: the real shocker in the group! This chain delivered on a buttery yet crispy exterior. The texture was really great and it was the least expensive of the 5.
Pierre Michel: this was the second favorite from you all in our poll, and for good reason! The crispiest outside and a very fluffy middle. Straight from Paris, the perfect texture and taste.Â
Tatte Bakery: aesthetically beautiful, softer than we wanted. The largest in the group, but we wanted quality, not quantity.Â
Sweet Kitchen: Way too dense, very bready. Didn’t really resemble a croissant besides the shape.
We have so many options locally, we kept this round close to home, but per the poll it seems like we need to venture out a bit further to try a few more! Did we miss any of your local favs? Let us know!
A few slices from the pie…
-Checked in at the Summer Fancy Food Show in NYC last week and per usual, had the best day! I saw new trends, old friends and even checked out some brand-new products your kids will love. Plus, while visiting the Sfoglini Booth, I found an allrecipes article about the best pasta brands, written by the amazing
that I contributed too and it was so awesome to see work out and about on her own! Thank you, Karla, for always keeping me in mind for these fun stories. Here’s one more about avocados for that I loved contributing to!-I’ve been hard at work creating lots of yummy over on IG + TT regularly for the last few weeks. It’s been creatively fulfilling and so much fun! Please follow along and hang out with me over a refreshing Watermelon Juice Mocktail or a Dubai Chocolate Ice Cream Sundae.
-We came in HOT to summer. James graduated his adorable pre-k program (and wore a cap and gown…cue the TEARS!) and we popped right off to beachy, sunny, sweltering, chlorine filled busy days! Started with a trip with friends to nostalgic LBI where my snackle box was the biggest hit, lots of pool days at my family’s house + now I’m taking a beat with my BFF Miranda on our annual roomies’ weekend in the Berkshires.
Long live summer + thanks for being here.
Love always,
Jeanette xx
take me out for croissants please!!
That's so awesome you that have that many croissant options in your town. And congratulations to James on graduating!
